We are very concerned about the impacts of climate change on Kent and what is being done towards mitigation and adaptation. We have brought together a wide range of non-governmental and educational bodies to collaborate and campaign together. To find out more, visit the Kent Climate Change Forum website.
1 Our Vision
Our vision is that Kent and Medway will:
• Be resilient to climate change impacts.
• Make the transition to a low carbon economy.
• Use natural and human resources efficiently and wisely.
• Have a high quality of life, rich heritage, healthy biodiversity and a robust economy.
Our vision for the forum is to be …
• The leading non-governmental forum in the county that engages, inspires and campaigns for the development and implementation of solutions for Kent and Medway that are resilient to climate change and low-carbon, benefiting current and future generations.
2 Our Mission
The objectives of the Forum are in-line with the Climate South East partnership:
2.1 Sharing good practice
• Encouraging partners to address climate change and to be champions for their stakeholders and communities by sharing good practice and through education
2.2 Solutions-driven
• Providing, advising on and advocating effective climate change solutions relevant to Kent and Medway.
2.3 Joint working
• Championing joint working between partners and with others to be more effective in tackling the impacts and reducing the causes of climate change.
2.4 Staying Informed
• Communicating and interpreting scientific research and information on developments in climate change policy and guidance, linking them to real-world solutions
2.5 Adaptation focused
• Climate change adaptation is a vital area where more investigation and awareness-raising is needed. In addition, local authorities in Kent have signed up (via the Kent Agreement) to be assessed on National Indicator 188 on climate change adaptation and the Forum has a role in influencing that work..
